Who We Are

501c3 Non-Profit

Named after the Dairy Creek watershed in Washington County, OR, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization that strives to build connections within the local food system. We promote the food community in western Washington County by sharing knowledge and resources to grow, harvest, share, and celebrate nourishing food.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build a thriving food community where everyone can produce, prepare, and consume local food in order to support the health of our land and people. How do we do this? Through our pillars of growing, teaching, and sharing.

Our Pillars

Grow

• By strengthening local food systems through supporting pantries, agencies, and organizations.
Advocating for land use policies that promote growth and stability for local food systems.

Teach

Educating within our community by bringing schools, farms and gardens together to get the best of our harvests to our local kids.
Providing farmers with support and information as they begin, develop, and grow their businesses.

Share

Developing shared facilities like kitchens and public markets to enable a broader diversity of local food.

Some specific resources we provide to support our community and our pillars include our Gleaning Program, where volunteers harvest produce from local homeowners. DCCFW brings all the equipment, including boxes, and the owners can opt to keep some of the harvest. Any food that they do not keep is donated!

We also maintain the Gardeners and Farmers Library located within St. Bede’s Episcopal Church on 1609 Elm Street in Forest Grove, OR 97116. This is a collection of over 150 books covering topics including gardening, farming, healthy eating, landscaping, biology, and social services.

We provide a range of other resources in our community events, which you can keep up with through our newsletter and website! In the past, these events have included the Spring Up! Plant Sale, Farm Your Garden: Kitchen-Garden Tours, Food Film Nights, and a Seed Swap.
