Supporting Your
Community Food Web
Even if you can only donate a few hours per month,
your time and skills will be incredibly valuable to us!
Join the Team
One way you can join our team and mission is by volunteering with us! This is a great opportunity to directly impact your neighborhood and find community within the DCCFW team too.
We want everyone to feel welcomed and have their voices heard. Dairy Creek Community Food Web will work with your skill set to find the right spot in the team for you! Some examples of how you might volunteer include:
- Newsletter Coordinator
Interact directly with our members by sending out our monthly newsletter with event updates and community news! - Webmaster
Maintain the DCCFW website as updates occur. - Author
We are always looking for people willing to try their hand at grant writing to help connect DCCFW to more resources and partners! - Social Media Manager
Manage the DCCFW Facebook and Instagram pages to build another link in our web. - Board Member
Become a part of our core team that shapes our programs and events! - Winter Farmers
Don’t worry if you are unsure what this is, we have a library full of resources to help! But in short, this is farm work that happens in the off-season, such as cleaning and storing seeds, processing produce, and caring for plants within the safety of shelter. - Gleaning Volunteer
Get on the ground with other members of your community! You can find out more about our Gleaning Program here, but the main role of these volunteers is to help pick produce from local gardens and yards. The local homeowner can opt to take some of the harvest, while the rest of the best food goes to the pantries. The less than perfect food can be distributed to volunteers based on what they decide as a group.
Students
Dairy Creek Community Food Web is excited to share knowledge and volunteer opportunities with younger demographics such as students. We believe everyone should be a part of the food web and teaching is one of our three pillars. Outside of attending our various events around Forest Grove, we welcome anyone who is looking to go above and beyond!
College
We have previously collaborated with Pacific University on our Community Cookbook and this very website! DCCFW would love to support your studies and provide opportunities for your Civic Engagement requirement. Please contact us for more information!
High School
Need volunteer hours for high school? Look no further, DCCFW has a spot for you! We believe more hands makes work easier and would love for motivated youth to join us in our gleaning program and other areas!
